Nicholas L. (Nick) Braak is a specialist in Internet Forensics and Internet Investigations. He has over 35 years of experience in Information Technology and has worked as a Cyber investigator specializing in Internet and Social Media forensics for more than 13 years.

From January 2014 to September 2020, Mr. Braak was a Senior Internet Investigator in the Internet Forensics practice at the Mintz Group in New York.  There he worked on more than 500 domestic and international cases. He submitted expert testimony and provided evidence in cases in the United States Federal Courts in New York and California, the New York State Supreme Court, New York City courts, the State of Virginia courts, Canadian courts, The United Kingdom High Court and other jurisdictions.

Before joining the Mintz Group, Mr. Braak was the Founder of Highwick Associates, a boutique Digital Investigative, Online Brand protection and Online Reputation Protection consultancy. At Highwick Associates Mr. Braak conducted dozens of investigations into website intrusions, IP theft, online fraud, online defamation, cybercrime and related matters. As a consultant he helped identify and mitigate online threats to the reputation, security, brand equity and privacy of Corporations, Professionals, Executives, High-Profile persons and their families.

In 2005 and 2006 Mr. Braak was part of an Electronic Evidence eDiscovery collection team at the City of New York’s Law Department, working on one of the largest and most complex electronic evidence collection projects ever undertaken in the United States – the City of New York’s response to and recovery from the September 11th attacks and the tens of thousands of health-related claims and lawsuits.

Mr. Braak was the founder of Redbox Security, an anti-spam and email security consultancy and the founder of Simplertech, a virtual and remote work consultancy.

Before that Mr. Braak was the President for thirteen years of Tricon Systems Limited, a New York City-based Value-Added Reseller of IT services, computer networks, hardware and software.

Mr. Braak studied Electrical Engineering at the Cape Peninsula University of technology in Cape Town, South Africa and Multi-Track Recording Technology at the Institute of Audio Research in New York City.
